Our Story

Growing Coffee Since 1928.

Taste the difference

There's something uniquely magical about a cup of coffee that tells a story, and that's exactly what you'll experience with our high altitude single origin coffee.
Cultivated on our family’s finca for three generations, each sip offers a rich history and a distinct flavor profile that can only come from dedicated craftsmanship and a deep connection to the land.

The Legacy of Our Finca

Our finca is nestled high in the mountains of our beloved Apaneca, providing the perfect combination of altitude, climate, and soil. These optimal conditions allow our coffee beans to develop a unique complexity and depth of flavor.

La Herencia Coffee is our family’s legacy. For almost 100 years, our family has meticulously cared for these lands, passing down our knowledge and passion for coffee cultivation.

This year, We're thrilled to finally share our single-origin coffee, straight from our family's finca, directly to your home. What took us so long? Our process is a labor of love: for three generations, we have nurtured every bean in each aromatic bag of La Herencia Coffee. Grown at an altitude of over 1,500 meters above sea level, our coffee cherries enjoy a longer maturation period before harvest. All good things take time, and our coffee is no exception.

It all started with Great Grandpa Manuel Roman and his son, Rigo, whom also doubled as the town’s unofficial veterinarian. Together, they laid the foundation for a family legacy in the lush coffee fields of Apaneca.

Jaime, one of Rigo’s nine spirited children, grew up amid the verdant plantation, where tending to the coffee plants was a part of his morning chores before school. The plantation has shrunk over the years through the ever changing landscape of El Salvador, but Jaime and baby sister Yolanda remain dedicated to this craft as a testament to Rigo’s hard work and love for the land.

The Unique Flavor Profile of High Altitude Coffee

Apaneca is a world renowned coffee growing region. High altitude coffee is celebrated for its exceptional quality and distinctive taste. The cooler temperatures at higher elevations slow down the growth of the coffee plants, which in turn produces beans that are denser and packed with more concentrated flavors. Our single origin coffee from these high-altitude fincas boasts bright acidity, vibrant fruit notes, and a smooth, well-rounded body.

Sustainable and Ethical Practices

The old timers Manuel and Rigo were humble farmers. For three generations, they nurtured and cultivated these fields.

All our finca’s coffees are 100% organic. We take great pride in our sustainable and ethical farming practices. By nurturing the environment and supporting our local community, we ensure that our coffee production is not only high-quality but also responsible.

From Our Family to Your Cup

When you brew a cup of our high altitude single origin coffee, you're not just enjoying a beverage; you're savoring the fruits of a family's dedication and love for coffee. Each batch is carefully harvested, processed, and roasted to highlight the unique characteristics of the beans.

Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or simply someone who appreciates a great cup of joe, you'll find that our coffee offers an unparalleled experience.

Experience the exceptional taste and rich heritage of our high altitude single origin coffee. From our three-generation grown fincas to your cup, we invite you to taste the difference that passion and tradition make.

Sincerely,
